EU Staff Candidate Communication: Accommodation Ireland Update 2024

  • Flexibility Required: Candidates must be open to various locations.
  • Major Cities: No long-term accommodation support in Dublin, Cork, or Galway. Only short-term (2-3 weeks) accommodation is available, making it nearly impossible to find your own place.
  • 2023 Insight: Only one job available in Dublin, highlighting the scarcity.
  • Commitment: Candidates must confirm commitment to job locations before interviews. We can’t support those unwilling to accept the specified locations.
  • Current Jobs: All available positions offer accommodation but are located in smaller towns or rural areas in the West or Central parts of Ireland, providing excellent living conditions.

We can only process candidates from EU/EEA countries.

NON-EU/EEA candidates we cannot process now as this requires a Visa application system that unfortunately we cannot support now.

  1. WHO CAN APPLY FOR THE JOBS IN EU?

EU/EEA candidates from 18 to 55 years of age can apply.

  1. CAN I TRAVEL WITH MY FAMILY?

You may travel with family and kids but it makes the whole relocation more complicated in the initial set up in the EU as accommodation for families can be expensive and difficult to source.

Our advice in the first 3-6 months is to travel alone, if possible, to reduce your initial relocation costs and give you a chance to source long term accommodation.

The accommodation is for staff only, not for family members.

  1. WHAT ARE THE ACCOMMODATION RENTAL COSTS IN EU?

All accommodation offers and costs will be described in relation to job offer and availability by the employer. On average the cost per person is €75/125 euro per week for rental of room. These are discounted rates offered by our Irish clients, which are below market rental standards.

  1. HOW MUCH TAX WILL I PAY IN EU?

This depends on which EU Country you will work in.

This depends on salary, hours worked, status of family if you are single person or family with spouse and kids. We will provide more information at the job offer stage based on which country you are going to be working. On average about 20% of salary is a good estimate.

  1. DO I NEED TO SPEAK ENGLISH?

All our candidates MUST have basic English language skills as a minimum requirement.

For hospitality back of house/kitchen work a standard entry level English could be sufficient but this depends on company/job responsibility. For front of house positions like waiters/bar staff you must have excellent language skills. Please see the job description for full details in relation to English language requirements.

  1. WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T LIKE THE FIRST INTERVIEW/TRIAL/JOB?

We collaborate with over 500+ companies in Ireland and Europe, so we always have options for our candidates. 1. FINAL INTERVIEW STAGE & JOB OFFER PROCEDURE.

The final job offer will be made by the EU employer directly to the candidate after the final interview stage. Our Agency will support you to prepare for interviews. It is the candidate’s responsibility to perform at an interview to secure jobs. All candidates will receive job offers prior to leaving their country of origin and travelling to Europe.

  1. CAN I DO A SKYPE/ WHATSAPP INTERVIEW WITH COMPANY BEFORE I LEAVE FOR EU?

A video call will be arranged by us as we are responsible for the sourcing of potential candidates from EU/EEA for our EU clients. Certain clients may request a skype interview with candidate and we can look to set this up, but the final job proposal will only be made by employer to candidate after final interview or trial. The contract is between our candidate and the employer, your employment contract will not be with Agency/EU WorkForce.

  1. WHO WILL HELP ME FIND LONG TERM ACCOMMODATION?

Your employer will also support in sourcing long term accommodation in the job location area. All our EU jobs will have some sort of accommodation support. Please speak to your agent and review job descriptions to see all accommodation support offered by us and our EU employers.

  1. WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T LIKE MY JOB AFTER 1 OR 2 MONTHS?

This can happen, but what is important is communication with us. We can look to speak to your current employer and improve working conditions and fix problems that might exist, or we can help you to source a better job for you. We can try to assist with communication with your employer and support you, or if required, based on circumstances, source a more suitable job for you. This will be done on a case-by-case basis.
